MBKFA Announces 1st Kayak Fishing Tournament in Mobile

On June 23rd and 24th something new will be exploding into the tournament arena of Mobile.  The first kayak fishing tournament in Mobile Bay will bring kayak anglers from around the area to compete in the rapidly growing sport of kayak angling.

The Mobile Bay Kayak Fishing Association will be hosting the 1st Annual Bagwell Kayak Fishing Tournament at the Fairhope Pier/Park with part of the proceeds going to benefit the CCA of Alabama.  Kayak anglers from around the east and gulf coast will be lined up the morning of June 23rd to compete in this historic tournament.  At the sound of the horn, an expected 50 kayakers will be pushing off the beaches of Fairhope to begin the tournament. 

Prizes and cash will be awarded in three species.  Redfish, Speckled Trout and Flounder.  A Grand Slam prize and cash package will also be awarded for the angler who weighs in the largest total over the two day tournament as set forth by tournament rules.   Tournament rules and registration may be obtained at the website of the Mobile Bay Kayak Fishing Association at www.mbkfa.com 

Entrance to view the tournament is free to the public.  Displays will be set up by local organizations such as the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program, CCA of Alabama and the new Five Rivers Facility. Sponsors of the tournament will also be setting up displays to introduce the public to this rapidly growing sport and their products/services.
